The material goes through a special kind of manufacturing process wherein Moso bamboo stalks are weaved to make this product. Manufacturing Strand Woven Bamboo

The manufacture of strand woven bamboo flooring includes four stages:

  • The bamboo stalks are cut into strands.
  • These stalks are then heated in order to prevent termite attack due to the sugar present in the bamboo.
  • Bamboo stalks are left to dry.
  • Once sufficiently dried up, the strands are pressed and flattened to achieve a sturdy effect.

Afterwards, the bamboo stalks are glued together with a strong adhesive so that the bamboo planks are compacted well. Doing this also allows all of the bamboo strands to be utilized. The planks of strand woven bamboo are usually 6" in length.

Installing Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring

Strand woven bamboo flooring may be installed in three ways. In fact, a DIY installation is possible for this type of flooring.

  • Strand woven bamboo flooring may be glued directly to a sub-floor.
  • A floating installation can be done by placing the material on an already existing sub-floor or a thin foam mat.
  • It is also possible to nail or staple the material to the sub-floor.

The nice thing about strand woven bamboo flooring is that it can be laid on the floor either in a horizontal or vertical manner, depending on the style of the flooring you want.
