Woven Bamboo Flooring

When it comes to the flooring system, hardwood flooring used to be the most popularly used. These floorings come from durable hardwood trees such as oak and maple. Nowadays, more alternative options that still have the characteristics of hardwood are being manufactured. Bamboo flooring, for example, has become popularly used in many buildings. In fact, it is one of the best and most durable flooring options today. Bamboo is a kind of grass, not wood or a tree. In Asia, it has been useful for the construction of homes and is also largely used as one of the resources for building materials. Bamboo is an affordable substitute to hardwood in a variety of purposes. It is economically friendly and easy to clean. There are many kinds of bamboo flooring, and the woven bamboo flooring is one of them.

Woven bamboo flooring materials are manufactured using a sturdy kind of bamboo plant called Moso. The processing of materials for this type of flooring differs from that of laminated bamboo flooring. Initially, the Moso stalks are boiled and after which, the sugar content is removed in order to avoid termites from attacking it. The boiled stalks are then dried up before they are pressed and flattened. High pressure is applied along with a low VOC adhesive. The flattened pieces are formed into solid planks with a density almost twice as strong as regular bamboo flooring.

Basic Cleaning of the Woven Bamboo Flooring

Woven bamboo flooring can retain its aesthetic value for a long period of time with proper care and maintenance. The regularity of cleaning the flooring must be as frequent as possible, at least once a week. Keeping it clean regularly keeps the floor looking great and prevents it from damages such as scratches, dents, and accumulated dirt. Basic cleaning for your woven bamboo flooring can be done using a soft bristled broom or a vacuum but do not be hasty in using it as it can cause scratches. Mopping the bamboo floor every now and then will help keep its lustrous appearance. Microfiber floor mop is highly recommended for quick dirt removal and easy cleaning.

On the Use of Cleaning Solution

When using a cleaning solution, choose products that are designed specifically for bamboo materials. These cleaning products are usually environmentally friendly, so it is beneficial for indoor cleaning. Make sure to check that the cleaner does not have ammonia content or any similar chemicals as it can damage the floor surface. Use only a small amount of solution to the floor and then mop it off. Remember never to use wax to clean your woven bamboo flooring. Wax does not work well with such kind of flooring.
